Expanding International Perspectives and Deepening Professional Expertise — 13 Faculty and Students Successfully Complete Educational Internship in Lithuania

To enhance the teaching competencies of future educators and broaden their international experiences, our university’s program, “Educational Internship in Lithuanian Public Primary Schools: From English Teaching to Global Competence,” received funding support from the Ministry of Education. Led by Associate Professor and Chair Dr. Yueh-Nu Hung from the Department of English, 12 pre-service teachers from the Departments of English, Physical Education, International Business, Education, Science Education and Application, and Taiwanese Languages and Literature visited to Lithuania from April 5 to 21, 2025 for an overseas educational internship.

The program included a week of internship at Visaginas School Ziburys in Visaginas and another week at Alytus Dzukija School in Alytus. During after-school hours and weekends, participants visited cultural institutions, national parks, and museums. The pre-service teachers also conducted presentations on Taiwanese culture, which received enthusiastic responses from local students.

This program successfully integrated teaching professional development and international competence growth. Through interactions with Lithuanian teachers and students, the interns not only expanded their international experiences and perspectives but also reflected on the diverse development of Taiwan’s educational practices, better preparing themselves for their future teaching careers.
