National Taichung University of Education (NTCU) signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with Education Bureaus in four countries and one city.


NTCU signed the memorandum of cooperation with Education Bureaus in four countries and one city on May 28 for proceeding the project of micro program in educational big data.  Based on big data, analyzing and exploring issues for understanding student’s learning needs and providing strategies for applying to educational issues. 

 

Digital learning is becoming more prevalent and is a daily routine in primary and secondary schools.  In order to investigate the effects on digital learning for students and to provide strategies to education bureaus in every country and city, NTCU signed the memorandum of cooperation in micro program of educational big data with Hsinchu County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Yunlin County and Chiayi County.  In this program, NTCU is responsible for cultivating cross-disciplinary talents with both education and information application competence, while the local governments set up project offices to promote digital learning.  With collabration between local governments and NTCU, in response to the demand for digital learning in the future.

 

Prof. Bao-Yuan Huang , Dean of Academic Affairs, stated that the micro program in education big data uses the model of “industry proposing, academic solving” to assist local governments in in-depth analysis of data of supporting digital learning.  With systematic data analysis, the program aims to grasp students’ performances in different digital initiatives and to assist teachers in examining students’ learning weaknesses, adjusting teaching methods, and formulating the effective learning strategies.

 

President Kuo said that with possessing a centurial history and being a leader in teacher training, NTCU is gradually transforming into an innovative and sustainable teacher education university with smart learning as its core and focuses on cultivating teacher education students with information competence.  NTCU has received funding for the micro program in education big data for two consecutive terms.  In the first term, NTCU successfully trained 25 students to obtain the program certificates, becoming the first one in Taiwan.

 

Digital learning and AI technology are next import education issues.  In addition to continuing digital learning exchange and collabration with other countries, increasing hardware and software facilities, and enhancing teachers’ digital and information competence, cultivating professional talents to conduct data analysis, improving students’ digital learning methods, as well as adjusting teachers’ differentiated teaching strategies will be the focus in the future.  With professional analysis and improvement methods provided by NTCU, it is believed that this cooperation can be inject new opportunities into digital education for these four countries and one city.
